Car Hits Building, Police Car in South Bethlehem

Witness compares South Bethlehem chase to "Grand Theft Auto."

A speeding driver hit a police cruiser and injured a police officer during a chase before crashing into a building Thursday morning in South Bethlehem, according to published reports.

The chase ended with a crash at 331-333 Brodhead Ave., site of St. Bernard's Home of Good Samaritan's, The Express-Times reported.

Witnesses told the newspaper the driver was speeding. One compared it to the video game Grand Theft Auto.

According to the Morning Call, a city police officer was hurt when the driver struck the officer's car. Charges are pending against the driver.
