Bethlehem Township Man Accused in Hit-and-Run

Drift Court man allegedly fled the scene of an accident after driving without a license or insurance, police said.

A Bethlehem Township man is accused of leaving the scene of a two-vehicle accident that injured two people in Lower Nazareth Township in July, according to court papers.

Jeffrey A. Trucksess, 48, of 110A Drift Court, was also driving with a suspended license and a canceled insurance policy when he was involved in the July 29 accident at Newburg Road and Georgetown Road, Colonial Regional Police said.

Trucksess was reported to police by his girlfriend—the co-owner of the vehicle, a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, police said. Trucksess called his girlfriend right after the accident to tell her he had just been in an accident and fled, court papers said.

Police found the Jeep at Trucksess’s home and he admitted to the accident, court papers said.

Gregory Flamish, 23, and Megan Giffert, 24, both of Nazareth, were in the other vehicle with two children ages 3 and 7, according to a previous report on the accident.

Both the driver and a passenger went to the hospital with back and neck pains, according to court papers.

Trucksess was arrested Thursday and charged with accidents involving death or injury and accidents involving death or injury while not properly licensed, both misdemeanors. He also faces three summary traffic charges.

He was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Barner and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
