Bethlehem Teen Was Assaulted and Robbed

The weekend of crime in the city

A Bethlehem teen-ager was attacked and robbed by two men, as he walked along the 300 block of W. Union Boulevard on Friday night, city police said.

The 16-year-old male was punched in the face and neck two or three times and had his wallet, keys, cell phone and Sony Walkman taken from him at about 11 p.m., the Bethlehem police media report says.

The robbers were described as men in their early 20s.

One was white, with blond hair and about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, wearing a black Reebok pullover hooded sweatshirt and denim pants.

The other was described as Hispanic, with long, dark hair worn in a pony tail, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and a thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a red and blue baseball cap and light blue jeans.

Assaulted by Latin Kings Gang Members 

Bethlehem Police are investigating an alleged assault of a woman by members of the Latin Kings street gang, early Saturday morning near the Marvine Pembroke housing development.

According to the police report, the woman was kicked in the head several times by gang members after she had an argument with another woman at about 2 a.m.. The assault took place at 1225 Hilton St.

The victim told police she had trouble seeing for a short time after she was kicked. The case is under investigation, police said.

 

Allentown Man Arrested on Resisting Arrest Charges

An Allentown man was charged with resisting arrest early Saturday morning after he fought with Bethlehem police as they tried to arrest him in the South Side.

Gustavo Roman is also accused of assaulting his girlfriend, who lives at 723 E. Morton St., which is why police initially responded to that address at a little before 2 a.m.

 

Bethlehem Man Sought in Assault and Theft

City police are looking for a South Bethlehem man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and stealing her iPhone early Saturday morning.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Henry Herrera, 35, of 1524 E. Seventh St., who is being charged with simple assault, theft, receiving stolen property and harassment. The incident occurred at the victim’s home on Lynfield Drive shortly before 3 a.m.

 

Busted for Allegedly Dealing Heroin

Street observation of a known heroin addict led police to arrest a man on suspicion of dealing drugs on Adams Street, city police said.

According to the city police media report, officers saw the known addict get into a car and leave after a short time inside. Police then stopped the car for having a broken break light.

During the traffic stop, a rear passenger was observed hiding something in his pants pocket.

That passenger, Fernando Lopez-Marrero, 25, of 428 Fourth Ave., Bethlehem, was found to have what police described as a “large amount” of heroin packs and cash.

He was charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

 

Despondent Over Breakup, He Decided to Snatch a Purse

Police say a Bethlehem Township man admitted to trying to steal a woman's purse at a Palmer Township supermarket because he was upset after breaking up with his fiancee.

Evan Michael Radice, 21, of 3923 Suncrest Lane, was arrested Saturday after attacking the woman at the Palmer Township Redner's, according to court records. Police said he hit the woman several times and tore her clothing in a failed attempt to steal her purse. He later told police "something in his head" told him to try to grab the woman's purse. 

He was arraigned before District Judge Daniel Corpora in Easton, and charged with robbery, aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment, and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail.
