Bethlehem Squad Called to Hellertown Pipe Bomb Scare

Roads were closed and residents evacuated in Hellertown's Front Street area because of a police investigation into a suspected pipe bomb

Residents were evacuated and several streets closed in the area of 715 Front Street, Hellertown on Saturday morning as police investigated the report of an explosive device, possibly a pipe bomb.

A robot from the Bethlehem Police Department's bomb squad was used to detonate the device. There are no reports of injuries. A reporter at the scene said no explosion was heard which could indicate the device was not active.

Nine apartments on Front Street were evacuated, according to Lehigh Valley Live.
