Bethlehem Police Promote 2 to Sgt., Hire 2 New Officers

The Bethlehem Police Department on Tuesday announced the promotion of two officers to the rank of sergeant and the swearing in of two new officers.

Sgt. Michelle Kott began her career with the City of Bethlehem Police Department after attaining a bachelor’s degree from DeSales University. She was hired by the department on July 7, 2004. She graduated from the Allentown Police Academy in November 2004. 

She held assignments on the department’s Patrol Division as well as with the department’s Vice Unit. She was assigned to the department’s Forensic Services Unit from 2009-2012. She is a member of the department’s Crisis Negotiation Team as well as both the Lehigh and Northampton County Drug Task Forces. Kott is assigned to the Operations Division 4th Patrol Platoon.

Sgt. Mark German joined the department in January 1999 after attaining his bachelor’s degree in criminal Justice from Alvernia College in 1995. He was assigned to the Patrol Division and has worked with the department’s 4th Platoon for the past 14 years. That’s 14 years of working a steady night shift.

German is the recipient of seven letters of commendation and four unit citations. German is now assigned to Operations Division 1st Patrol Platoon.

Police Officer Andrew Mulqueen was born in Augusta, Ga. While in the Army, he attained the rank of sergeant while assigned to the 554th Military Police Company in Stuttgart, Germany. He attended the Temple University Criminal Justice Training Program and completed the Act 120 Basic Police Training Program in March 2012. 

Police Officer Joshua Hobson was born in Doylestown. He received an associate’s degree from Bucks County Community College before attending the Montgomery County Police Academy and completing the Act 120 Basic Police Training Program in July 2012.
