Bethlehem Man Sentenced for Fracturing Infant's Skull

Published report: Taylor, "haunted" by memory, is sentenced to 18-24 months in state prison.

A 24-year-old Bethlehem was sentenced to 18 to 24 months in a state prison this morning for fracturing his infant son’s skull, according to a report on The Morning Call’s website.

According to the newspaper report, Matthew D. Taylor told Northampton County Judge Leonard Zito that the incident of more than a year ago still haunts him and keeps him from sleeping at night.

The boy was 17 days old when he was brought to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg with a broken eye socket. Five months later, the infant was back in the hospital with multiple skull fractures and bruises.

Assistant District Attorney Patricia Broscius told Zito that Taylor has never given a sufficient explanation for the injuries his son suffered.
