Borough police ran Silverthorn's license plate, and discovered he was wanted by the Army. It was not clear what caused police to run Silverthorn's plates in the first place.

He was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter in Wilson, and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. Court records indicate Silverthorn is expected to be extradited to Fort Dix in New Jersey.
