Alleged Deadbeat Dad from Indiana Caught at Sands

Man who lives in South Bethlehem had been wanted on an Indiana bench warrant for non payment of child support since 2008.

 

Authorities say they have caught up with a man who is the subject of a 4-year-old bench warrant from Indiana for alleged non-support of a dependent child. The subject has a South Bethlehem address.

Marque Clevon Rogers, 39, was picked up Wednesday afternoon at the Cobalt Café inside the. Court records do not say what Rogers has been doing in Bethlehem.

The bench warrant was issued June 10, 2008.

A criminal complaint filed by Deputy Brian Budraitis of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Department says authorities got a tip at 8:45am Wednesday that Rogers would be at the Cobalt Café between 3pm and midnight. Budraitis picked him up around 3:30pm.

Rogers is a fugitive from Montgomery County, Ind., on allegations of non-support of a dependent child. The Montgomery County sheriff’s department is in Crawfordsville in the western part of the state south of West Lafayette, home of Purdue University.

A hearing for Rogers, whose local address is 306 Hill St., is set for Aug. 20 at the Northampton County Government Center. He was arraigned Wednesday night by on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township and committed to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $150,000 bail.
