96-Year-Old Bethlehem Man Hit by Car, Dies

Joseph Dabrowski, a carpenter who lived on Main Street, survived capture by Germans during World War II.


A 96-year-old Bethlehem man died of multiple injuries after he was struck by a motor vehicle on Main Street Wednesday night, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s office.

Joseph Dabrowski, who lived in the senior citizens high-rise apartments at 645 Main St., was hit at the intersection of Main and Raspberry streets a little before 8 p.m., the coroner said. He was pronounced dead a half-hour later at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill.

Dabrowski was a carpenter who emigrated from Poland after World War II, according to The Express-Times. He survived capture by Germans during the war while he fought for his native country.

Bethlehem Police are investigating the incident.
