88-Year-Old Bethlehem Woman Killed in Crash

Gertrude Babin of Arlington Street is one of two who died as a result of two-vehicle crash in Lower Nazareth Township this morning.

 

An 88-year-old Bethlehem woman was one of two people killed in a two-vehicle crash that took place this morning along Hanoverville Road in Lower Nazareth Township, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s office.

Gertrude M. Babin of 1913 Arlington St. was pronounced dead at 10:16 a.m. in the emergency room of St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, according to a coroner’s news release.

A second person killed as a result of the collision and rollover accident in front of 4519 Hanoverville Road has not been identified.

A third victim, the driver of a pickup truck involved in the collision, suffered “minor to moderate injuries,” according to The Express Times. A dog riding in the back of the pickup truck was killed, the newspaper reported.

The Breaking News Network reported the crash at a little before 10 a.m., noting that all three victims were entrapped in the involved vehicles. The first death was reported at the scene at a little after 10 a.m.

The Lehigh County Coroner plans to conduct an autopsy of Babin’s body on Thursday. The coroner is working with Colonial Regional Police and the Northampton County District Attorney’s office in the investigation.
