An Allentown man hit another man in the head with a 40-ounce beer bottle in a home in Bethlehem’s Lynfield neighborhood, according to court records.
Jonathan Pagan, 28, of 2013 S. Lumber St., is facing felony aggravated assault and other charges for the May incident. He was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Patricia Romig-Passaro and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.
According to Bethlehem police, the beer bottle blow caused a “large gash” above the victim’s eye, an injury that required hospital treatment. The victim was visiting Pagan’s ex-girlfriend when the assault occurred on May 18, police said.
The victim told police that he was sleeping when he awoke to see Pagan standing over him and holding the bottle before he was hit in the head.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, when the victim stood up, Pagan allegedly swung a knife at him and said: “Why don’t I just kill you now?” The knife did not make contact with the victim, police said.
The woman who lives in the home on the 1900 block of Lynfield Drive told police that Pagan is her ex-boyfriend. She said she did not see the bottle assault because she was asleep, but did see Pagan and the victim scuffling in her home, police said.
