2 Hurt in Crash on Icy I-78

The two-vehicle accident happened Saturday morning on Interstate 78.

Two people were taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Fountain Hill Saturday morning following a two-vehicle crash on an icy Interstate 78, state police at Belfast said.

Drivers Astrid Natalie Diaz, 20, of Freemansburg, and Onyekachu Nwobi, 22, of Jackson, N.J., were injured in the crash that occurred at 8:43 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-78 at mile marker 66 in Bethlehem.

According to police, Diaz was traveling in the right lane of I-78 westbound behind Nwobi's car. As Nwobi began to slow for traffic, Diaz moved into the left lane, lost control of her Ford Explorer on the icy roadway and hit the rear of Nwobi's car.

Police said Diaz's vehicle rolled over twice, and came to rest on all four wheels facing eastbound on the left shoulder of I-78.
