16-Year-Old Charged in Armed Robbery

Police say he took a woman's purse at gunpoint on the 400 block of Taylor Street.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly holding a woman at gunpoint and stealing her purse on a South Bethlehem street Sunday night, city police said.

The teenager, who was not identified, was charged with robbery and related offenses and committed to the Northampton County Juvenile Detention Center.

The alleged armed robbery took place on the 400 block of Taylor Street a little before 8 p.m. Police recovered a BB gun when they apprehended the boy later that night.

The boy, who lives in South Bethlehem, was also charged with theft, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and possessing the instruments of a crime.
