Mark Brady Arner: Safety Director, State Theatre Bartender [Obituary]

Mark Brady Arner, 51, of Bethlehem, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013.

Mark Brady Arner, 51, of Bethlehem, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013. He was the husband of Stephanie W. Arner, with whom he shared over 9 years of marriage.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of David William Arner of Bethlehem and the late Irene Annette (Brady) Arner. Mark was a 1980 graduate of Freedom High School, where he excelled at baseball and basketball. He attended Kutztown State, where he played baseball and later graduated from De Sales University.

Mark worked as an Orderly, Security Officer and Director of Safety and Transportation for St. Luke’s Hospital for 21 years, later as Director of Safety and Security at Good Shepherd for 9 years and most recently at Quad Graphics. Mark also worked as a bartender at the State Theater in Easton and several local clubs.

Mark enjoyed playing baseball and softball in many local leagues. He especially enjoyed his coaches and teammates on and off the field. Mark was a Yankees, Eagles, Flyers and Penn State fan.

Survivors: his loving family includes his wife, Stephanie; son, James P. Arner; daughter, Nicole M. Arner; father David W. Arner and step-mother Deborah Arner; step-daughters, Lauren K. and Justina M. Kress; brother, David C. Arner and his wife, Bonnie; step-brothers and sisters, Steve and Tracy Samuelson, Julie and Dan Heffernan, Joanna and Shane Samuelson Gillies and John Kris Snyder Samuelson; mother-in-law, Katherine Kraus and his faithful companion, Yankee. Mark was a friend of Bill W.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held 1PM Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Christ Church UCC, Center and Market Streets, Bethlehem, 18018. Arrangements entrusted to Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.longfuneralhome.com.

Contributions: in lieu of flowers to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1541 Alta Drive, Whitehall, PA 18052 in memory of Mark’s departed sister, Nancy Arner.
