How did the merchant body in Downtown Bethlehem react to Kelly Ripa's describing Bethlehem as unromantic and dead?
The recent flurry of newsprint real and virtual caused by Foursquare - a social networking site really caused quite a stir in Bethlehem.
As chair of the DBA our local merchant's association I certainly heard first hand the opinions of most of the North Side business owners at a recent meeting. Further amplified by TV host Kelly Ripa reading the results of the Foursquare analysis, most of us were somewhat insulted that we would be ranked next to some no name town in the middle of nowhere.
After considerable discussion we decided to take on Kelly Ripa by doing a video spoof on Foursquare and prove that Bethlehem is not only romantic but ironic, sarcastic, talented, funny, historic, interesting and ingenious. In short this was viewed as an opportunity in waiting.
