First Main Stage Act Announced for 2014 Musikfest

Hunter Hayes, Country Music Association's 2012 New Artist of the Year, will perform Aug. 2. Tickets go on sale in December.

ArtsQuest on Wednesday announced its first featured performer for 2014 Musikfest: GRAMMY-nominated, chart-topping country star Hunter Hayes.

Hayes, who was the Country Music Association's New Artist of the Year in 2012, will headline the festival on the Sands Steel Stage on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m.

Tickets, which are $44 and $54 will go on sale to the general public on Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. ArtsQuest members can get them starting on Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. They’ll be available at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.

The 31st Musikfest is set to run from Aug. 1 through Aug. 10 and feature more than 500 musical performances, 60 food vendors and 45 artisans.

A multi-talented performer, musician, producer and writer, Hayes debuted with his critically acclaimed self-titled album, which featured the No. 1 singles “Wanted” and "Somebody's Heartbreak.”

The album has sold more than seven million singles while also being certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Hayes’ current single, “Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me” featuring Jason Mraz, is off his critically acclaimed album, Hunter Hayes (Encore).

Hayes has headlined sold-out venues across the U.S. and Canada and is currently on the CMT On Tour: Hunter Hayes’ Let’s Be Crazy tour, which features 24 dates in 21 cities through Dec. 7.

Hayes, who is currently working on a new album, was nominated for three GRAMMY awards in 2012, including New Male Vocalist of the Year, Best Country Album for Hunter Hayes and Best Country Solo Performance for “Wanted.”

Earlier this month, Hayes took home BMI’s coveted Song of the Year award for “Wanted.”
