Country Legend Alan Jackson to Headline at Musikfest

Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer to appear on Aug. 8. Tickets go on sale next week.

Country music icon and two-time GRAMMY winner Alan Jackson will headline Musikfest 2014 when he performs at the festival’s Sands Steel Stage on Friday, Aug. 8 at 8:30 p.m., ArtsQuest officials announced Monday.

Tickets for the concert are $49 and $59 and go on sale Friday, Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. ArtsQuest members can start buying them on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m.

One of country music’s most beloved artists, Jackson has been a mainstay on the country charts since the early ‘90s.  Over the past quarter-century, the Georgia native has sold nearly 60 million albums worldwide, topped the country singles charts 35 times and scored more than 50 Top 10 hits.

Jackson has written or co-written 24 of his 35 No. 1 singles and is an 18-time ACM Award winner and 16-time CMA Award recipient. His songwriting has earned him the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award, as well as an induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In recent years, Jackson has collaborated with artists such as Jimmy Buffett, Zac Brown Band and George Strait.  In September, he released his first Bluegrass album, which earned praise from critics. The recording, appropriately named The Bluegrass Album, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums Sales Chart.

Last week, ArtsQuest announced that folk, rock, country, pop band The Avett Brothers will headline the festival on Thursday, Aug. 7. The nonprofit arts organization also announced, but were forced to cancel, a scheduled festival performance by up-and-coming country star Hunter Hayes.
