For the fourth year in a row, Legal Aid of Marin is hosting a special two-day legal clinic aimed at helping Marin County residents solve issues ranging from foreclosure and eviction to consumer and employment matters.
Held at Legal Aid of Marin’s offices at 30 North San Pedro Road in San Rafael, the two-day clinic expects to draw 100-150 Marin County residents who will receive legal advice, assistance and answers from Legal Aid of Marin staff as well as volunteer attorneys and law students from throughout the Bay Area.
The two-day clinic will be held Wed. (Dec. 28) and Thursday (Dec. 29), between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Legal Aid of Marin offices, 30 North San Pedro Road, Suite 220, San Rafael. Client appointments are booked in advance and all slots expected to be filled. Walk-ins will be accepted only on a first to arrive basis with no guarantees of service. Appointments will be received only until December 22, 2011 or until fully booked.
The annual two-day clinic began in 2008 after Legal Aid of Marin staff noticed the trend of a tremendous increase in appointment requests for legal advice during the last month of the year.
“We recognize that this is a time of year when the Courts remain open while many law offices and service providers close doors.” said Legal Aid of Marin’s Executive Director, Paul Cohen. “Legal Aid of Marin will be open for these two days and give the community the confidence to address legal issues in order to get the New Year started off right.”
Over the years, the two-day clinic has taken on an emotionally positive tone for both clients and attorneys, who work together to resolve complicated and often longstanding legal matters.
Many evaluations forms suggested the 2010 Holiday Clinic was excellent. One participant noted “I can’t think of any improvements. My experience here was perfect.” Another stated “this clinic is a wonderful resource. I wish more people knew about it.”
One attorney is set to volunteer for a second year in a row on both days of the clinic.
