A Day to Set Goals... for Women

FemmeSpeak! – a regional woman-to-woman communication vehicle – is proud to announce A Day to Set Goals… for Women on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Comfort Inn Suites, 120 West Third Street, Bethlehem, Pa. 18015. This free, action-packed day focuses on different ways to advance women in the workforce, as well as ensure local women enjoy a rewarding life outside of the office. The event features a Women’s Career Fair, a panel discussion on “Certifying your Business as Woman-Owned,” and a Women’s Adventure Fair.

“This is one day for women to be a little selfish and think about what they really want out of their lives,” said Colleen LaRose, event coordinator and owner, founder of FemmeSpeak! “Women too often put others needs and wants in front of their own. This day shines the light on women and asks them to express their desires.  It allows them to consider all of the possibilities available to them in life and set their sights on achieving their dreams, whether those dreams are about working for someone else, working for themselves or just finding new ways to cut loose and have fun.”

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with the Women’s Career Fair featuring a variety of employers including the Federal Bureau of Prison, the United States Secret Service, and Giorgio Fresh Foods. The Pennsylvania State Police – who are preparing to have 1,200 Troopers eligible to retire by next summer – will also be in attendance as they are interested in recruiting women to fill a variety of positions. In addition to mingling with employers, attendees will hear presentations from Esther Hughes, a confidence coach on how to confidently showcase your strengths in interviews, Paula Gregorowicz, owner of Paula G. Company and career coach on three secrets to obtaining success in a new career (and beyond), Joseph Facchiano owner of FocalPoint Business Coaching of Lehigh Valley on honing in on a true recipe for success and how to achieve it, and Colleen LaRose, owner, founder of FemmeSpeak! on setting goals for yourself and making the life of your dreams a reality.

At 3 p.m., the program switches to a panel discussion on “Certifying Your Business as a Woman-Owned Business” featuring panelists from the Bureau of Minority and Women Business Opportunities, Small Business Administration (SBA), and the Women Business Enterprise National Council. The discussion will revolve around certifications and programs to assist women entrepreneurs in starting and certifying their business, including the new WOSB (Women-Owned Small Business) and EDWOSB (Economically Disadvantaged WSOB) certifications announced by the SBA this spring. FemmeSpeak! will also announce the launch of Pink Link Pages – a national online directory of woman-owned businesses.

A Day to Set Goals… for Women continues with a Women’s Adventure Fair at 5 p.m. where women can explore fun recreational activities. Participating vendors include companies that offer scuba diving, hot air balloon rides, foreign language instruction, travel, and much more!  The evening will conclude with a fun evening Zumba dancing and a Karoke sing-along of “power woman songs.”

“We want women to leave this day and evening of events feeling jazzed about the potential in their life,” exclaimed LaRose.

Vendor space is still available for both the Career Fair and Adventure Fair. Please contact Colleen LaRose at colleen@femmespeak.com or 908-995-7718 for more information.
