International Day of Peace Commemoration

"On September 21 the United Nations annually invites all nations and people to honor a cessation of hostilities and to commemorate the International Day of Peace, through education and public awareness on issues related to peace."

The Spiritual Directors of the Greater Lehigh Valley and St. Francis Center for Renewal extend an open invitation to you to mark this date by visiting the Center's grounds between 9am and 3pm to walk one of their beautiful new prayer paths for peace or keeping vigil before their peace monument.

There will be a group sharing of a ritual for peace from 11am to 12noon at which time we will join hearts and minds and prayers for peace with those of other communities across the globe.

For more study and dialogue on the International Day of Peace themes the following programs will also be offered at the Center:

Wednesday. September 18 from 6pm- 9pm  ($20-$25 love offering)

Film: "The Power of Forgiveness" followed by a discussion with noted religion author, Ken Briggs

Wednesday, September 25, 6pm - 9pm   ($20-$25 love offering)

Film: "Beyond Right and Wrong"
Discussion of the "5 Habits of the Heart" from Parker Palmer's "Healing the Heart of Democracy"
