Quiet Christmas Service

You are invited to join us at a community-wide Quiet Christmas Service which will be held at Wesley Church on Saturday December 22, 2012.The meditative program will begin in the church sanctuary at 5:30 p.m. with a 40 minute service featuring sacred texts, poetry and other reading, meditative videos, contemporary and classic organ and piano selections, recorder and flute duet, and traditional liturgies and prayers of the traditional Service of the Longest Night. Following the service worshippers will be invited to move to the church’s fellowship hall where they will be invited to walk the Chartres Chapel style Labyrinth. Along the way to the Labyrinth, hot apple cider and cookies will be served; the evening will conclude by 7p.m.

The Quiet Christmas Service is a contemplative service for those who need a break from the busy days of Christmas activities. The service recognizes that the sights, sounds, and symbols of Christmas may trigger a negative range of emotions for some and provides opportunity to celebrates the birth of the Christ in the safety of a portal of hope, joy, and peace. The evening will be a time of prayer, song, meditation and of being still so that we may reflect and remember that the God of our creation is a God who comes to us in love.
