Lehigh Forum Has 6 Democratic Candidates for Governor

A half-dozen hopefuls for Pennsylvania governor will appear at Iacocca Hall Wednesday night to answer questions.

Six of the Democratic candidates for Pennsylvania governor will be on hand to answer voters’ questions during a forum at Lehigh University’s Iacocca Hall on Wednesday night.

The forum, which is being hosted by the Lehigh University Democratic Club, will not include two of the top contenders for the nomination—U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and Pennsylvania Treasurer Rob McCord.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the event, which is scheduled to get under way at 5:30 p.m.

Candidates expected to attend are:

  • Former DEP Secretary John Hanger
  • Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz
  • Former DEP Secretary Kathleen McGinty
  • Businessman and former pastor Max Myers
  • Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski
  • Businessman and former Department of Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf

Beginning at 6 p.m., the candidates attending will spend 15 minutes rotating through each of six issue stations—reproductive rights, labor, senior citizens issues, education, environment and equality—responding to direct questions from voters.

After that, each of the candidates will have between three and five minutes to address everyone in attendance.

The Pennsylvania primary will be held on May 20, with the winner likely to face incumbent Republican Tom Corbett in the general election in November. Corbett, however, could be facing a primary challenge of his own.

Schwartz, who reportedly has the biggest campaign bank account among Democrats, has been in the lead for her party’s nomination in almost every poll taken to this point.
