Weather Advisory Calls for 2 to 3 Inches of Snow

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Lehigh Valley from 4am to 7pm Tuesday.

 

Snow remains in the forecast for Tuesday.

Late Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service at Mount Holly, N.J. issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Lehigh Valley for 2 to 3 inches of snow.

The advisory will be in effect from 4am to 7pm Tuesday, and also covers counties in the Poconos, southeastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey.

In a statement accompanying the advisory, the weather service said snow is expected to begin during the overnight hours, with increasing intensity of precipitation anticipated during the morning rush hour.

"The snow is then anticipated to mix with or change to rain during the late morning and afternoon hours," the weather service said. "Any rain is expected to change back to snow during the evening before the precipitation comes to an end."

Across the higher elevations of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, the precipitation is expected to remain frozen throughout the day.

The periods when the snow could accumulate are expected to be during the morning and evening commutes Tuesday, the weather service said.
