Road Work Planned on Bethlehem Streets

Use caution and give yourself extra time—or avoid these areas if possible this week.

 

Road maintenance and construction of varying types could play havoc with local travel plans and errands around the Bethlehem area this week.

Here is a list of places and times of anticipated work. Consider avoiding these areas or give yourself extra travel time and use caution if you need to drive through these areas:

  • The right northbound lane of the Minsi Trail Bridge will be closed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. all week to allow contractors to install new electrical conduit.
  • Eighth Avenue between Broad Street and Union Boulevard will be worked on by the city’s paving contractor, starting Monday. This means all traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes of the avenue.
  • The city contractor will also be working on Hillside Avenue, which will be milled and overlaid beginning Monday. The work will last until about Thursday. During this time, parking and travel lanes will be restricted in certain areas.
  • Crack sealing will be done along Wyandotte Street in South Bethlehem between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, by PennDOT maintenance forces.
  • Milling and pothole patching will take place along Linden Street between Elizabeth Avenue and Dewberry Avenue, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, by PennDOT maintenance forces.
  • Private contractor utility work will continue along William Penn Highway at Meyer Lane and the Park & Ride in Bethlehem Township through April 18.
