Lights Back on in SouthSide, Lehigh University

PPL has completed repairs to 10 transmission lines, the last of which feeds South Bethlehem.

PPL Electric Utilities reported this morning that it has completed repairs to all 10 of the transmission lines that were damaged as a result of Saturday’s rare October snowstorm.

The tenth and last of those transmission lines is the one that feeds the Lehigh University campus and parts of South Bethlehem, according to the company’s Twitter feed.

As of 9 a.m. this morning, there remains about 1,800 households in the city of Bethlehem that still do not have electricity, while 340 homes in Bethlehem Township are still without power.

With electricity restored to Lehigh University, students are being asked to start returning to the campus no earlier than 4 p.m. today, according to this alert on the university website.

Classes, which were cancelled today, are expected to resume Thursday. Faculty and staff are asked to report back to work at noon today.
