Lehigh Valley Under Tropical Storm Warning

National Weather Service extends Tropical Storm Warning to include Lehigh and Northampton counties.

The threat of Hurricane Irene put the Lehigh Valley under a flood watch but the National Weather Service has now added a Tropical Storm Warning to its forecast for Lehigh and Northampton counties.

Rainfall amounts have been revised upward:

  • 3-4 inches tonight
  • 4+ inches possible on Sunday

There is chance of scattered showers this morning followed by possible showers and thunderstorms from 11am to 2pm. Heavier rain is expected to follow later today.

The storm was located about 340 miles south/southwest of Atlantic City, NJ, as of 8am Saturday.

WFMZ's forecast is for 4 to 6 inches of rain with locally higher amounts and the heaviest rain falling from 8 tonight to noon Sunday.
