Exploding 'Meth Lab' Arrests, Liberty Grad Killed in Fire Top Bethlehem News

An allergic reaction to Axe Body Spray at Freedom High School and new stores at Sands Outlet also made headlines.

A 64-year-old woman and owner of a Northeast Bethlehem home where a suspected methamphetamine lab exploded and caught fire 10 days ago was arrested Monday and charged with multiple drug-related crimes. Two others also were arrested in connection with the case.

Ex-Liberty Student Among 4 Dead in Emmaus Fire

Liberty High School graduate Melissa Twining and her 16-year-old son Montana were among four people killed in a fire that roared through an Emmaus duplex at 36-38 S. Fifth St. on Sunday.

Administrators at Freedom High School have asked students to stop wearing Axe Body Spray after a student suffered an “extreme” allergic reaction to the spray cologne that required an ambulance call and hospitalization. The freshman has not returned to school and his parents now plan to home school him.

4 New Stores Coming to Sands Outlets

The Outlets at Sands Bethlehem will be getting a bakery and café, a spa and two other stores—Cardinal Camera and Famous Footware—by the summer, according to Sands representatives.

A pair of classic rock’s biggest hit-makers—Styx and Foreigner—will headline at Musikfest on Aug. 7 at 7 p.m., ArtsQuest announced on Thursday. Tickets for the show, which will take place at the festival’s Sands Steel Stage at PNC Plaza, are $44 and $54. They will go on sale to ArtsQuest members Tuesday at 10 a.m. and to the public on March 29 at 10 a.m.
