Air Quality Alert Issued for Friday

Avoid strenuous activity outdoors on Friday if you are sensitive to air pollution.

A code orange air quality alert is in effect Friday for the Lehigh Valley, according to the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection. (Thursday was also an air quality alert day.)

The alert means the level of air pollution in our area may become unhealthy for sensitive groups including children, the elderly and people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases.

The first heat wave of the season is upon us with daily high temperatures of 90 expected Thursday through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
