Good morning Bethlehem. Today is Thursday, October 27, 2011. On this day, 25 years ago, Mookie Wilson of the New York Mets hit an innocent looking ground ball, which trickled along Shea Stadium’s first base line and through the legs of Bill Buckner, sealing the fate of the “cursed” Boston Red Sox. The Mets won the World Series two nights later.

  1. Grab an umbrella before you walk out the door this morning. The National Weather Service says we have a 100 percent chance of rain today. Now that’s a guarantee folks. A quarter to a half-inch of rain is expected. The weather is expected to take a turn for the colder after the rain passes, just in time for the weekend.
  2. You’ll have to endure that rain if you want to be at Campus Square for the final of the season. The seasonal weekly market at New and Morton streets, sells fresh produce and locally produced foods and products. The market is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  3. Tri-State Staffing is hiring customer service representatives, a bilingual on-site supervisor, warehouse workers, forklift operators, as well as part-time sorters, scanners and loaders. The company is holding a job fair at CareerLink of the Lehigh Valley, 1601 Union Boulevard, Allentown, from 12:30 to 4 p.m., where you can come in person to apply. Show up early – between 9 a.m. and noon – for a chance to have a one-to-one session to have your resume critiqued by an expert.
  4. Standup comic Chris Coccia is among the evening entertainment options available at the ArtsQuest Center at . The show at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and $8 for ArtsQuest members.
  5. Submit pictures of your kids in their Halloween costumes to the contest. The 10 best costumes in the country, as judged by a panel led by celebrity supermodel Heidi Klum, will win $1,031 each for a local charity of their choice.
