5 Things to Know Today

Today is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.

Good morning Bethlehem. Today is Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Happy birthday, Mom!

  1. For Catholics and Anglicans, today is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of nature, animals and the environment. Many churches mark the occasion by having ceremonies during which pets and other animals are blessed.
  2. PennDOT has scheduled highway inspections for eastbound Route 22, between Airport Road and Route 512, starting at 9 a.m. Expect lane restrictions, watch for stopped vehicles and use caution when driving through the area.
  3. The makes its weekly appearance at PNC Plaza along First Street from 3 to 7 p.m. Get fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh baked goods, meats and cheeses.
  4. Students in the , Grades Kindergarten through 12, can get at both the and branches of the Bethlehem Area Public Library from 4 to 6 p.m.
  5. City Council holds one of its two regular monthly meetings at starting at 7 p.m. That will be preceded at 6 p.m. by a Community Development Committee meeting. The agenda looks fairly light.
