5 Things to Know Today

Inaugural Blast Furnace Blues Festival starts at SteelStacks tonight.

Good morning Bethlehem. Today is Friday, September 16, 2011. Here comes the weekend.

  1. A job fair is being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CareerLink of the Lehigh Valley, 1601 Union Boulevard, Allentown, for Assante, which is looking for entry-level warehouse workers. Jobs pay from $8 to $10, with benefits. First, second and third shifts available.
  2. If you love Greek food, stop by the , 1607 W. Union Boulevard, Bethlehem, for some of the best you can get in the Lehigh Valley. The Greek Food Festival begins at 11 a.m. and goes on until Sunday.
  3. The inauguralgets under way at 5 p.m. when the Kinsey Report takes the Musikfest Café stage. The legendary Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang and the critically-acclaimed Mississippi Heat, along with local favorite Sarah Ayers will also be among the acts taking the three festival stages at the campus tonight. The festival continues all weekend. Tickets for tonight are $25 at the door. Three-day passes are also available.
  4. The IronPigs dropped Game Three of the Governor’s Cup Series, the International League Championship, on Thursday night. At 7 p.m., they try to even the series up at two games each behind the left arm of Ryan Edell. The season ends if the Pigs lose to the Columbus Clippers. If the Pigs win, the series continues Saturday for a winner-take-all Game Five. Win or lose, enjoy the post-game fireworks.
  5. In high school football, the Hurricanes play their first home game at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium against the visiting Nazareth Blue Eagles in a pivotal Lehigh Valley Conference showdown between two undefeated teams. The undefeated Patriots go to Allentown at 7 p.m. to play the Allen Canaries, who are looking for their first win. ’s Golden Hawks, also undefeated after two weeks, also visit Allentown Saturday night to play the Central Catholic Vikings , the defending state champions who are also looking for their state win. The winless Crusaders visit Pen Argyl at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
