5 Things to Know Today

The college campuses start buzzing again as students return from summer vacation.

Good morning, Bethlehem. Today is Friday, August 26, 2011. Here comes the weekend. Here comes Irene.

  1. The weather forecast for today says mostly sunny and a high of 85 degrees. Kids, enjoy your last day of freedom. School starts on Monday and the weather takes a turn for the ugly on Saturday night.
  2. Students at both and start moving back in for the long academic year today. At Lehigh, where many of the upper classmen do not have housing on campus, they will be facing about dealing with trash and litter.
  3. ISS, which provides the staffing for the Amazon.com warehouse in Upper Macungie Township, has a job fair at CareerLink of the Lehigh Valley, 1601 Union Boulevard, Allentown, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are hiring pickers, packers, sorters, shippers and receivers.
  4. Post-modern rockabilly rebels Shotgun Party play the free show at the starting at 7:30 p.m.
  5. Spend some time today making sure you have the provisions you need to get through a few days without electricity or access to help. Here’s a for your shopping list.
