- Bring your rain gear. Irene may be a couple of days away, but we have a 70 percent chance of rain today, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms with gusty winds and small hail are even a possibility.
- Assante will hold a job fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for light warehouse laborers, machine operators and forklift operators at CareerLink Lehigh Valley, 1601 Union Boulevard, Allentown. CareerLink is also holding a number of educational workshops for job seekers.
- A welcome back party for students at is planned for today on the Quad or in the Student Life Zone on the second floor of the College Center if it rains. (See #1) We’ve gotten reports that the college mascot, Sam Spartan, who was kidnapped by brazen ninjas last week, will be returned during the festivities. The party should get started around 11 a.m.
- makes its weekly appearance at Campus Square, New and Morton streets in South Bethlehem, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Blues singer, harmonica player and cancer survivor Curtis Salgado takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Salgado, who is a five-year survivor of liver transplant surgery, was one of the inspirations for John Belushi’s Jake Blues character.
