5 Things to Know Today

Let's Do The Time Warp Again at SteelStacks.

Good morning Bethlehem. Today is Friday, October 21, 2011. Here comes the weekend.

  1. Satisfy that sweet tooth at the “Just Desserts Festival,” in the South Bethlehem business district. One $10 ticket gets you samples of more than 20 desserts available in businesses along Third and Fourth streets in this annual event sponsored by the Downtown Bethlehem Association. It all starts at 5 p.m.
  2. Get stoked at the tonight for sponsored by the folks at Movies, Games & More. Six movies will be shown in three double-features over two days starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for each double feature are $16 and include a lift ticket voucher from Elk Mountain, a copy of Mountain Magazine for those arriving early, posters and a raffle ticket for some prizes from the film companies. Doors at the Ice House open at 5 p.m.
  3. The local high school football schedule is light tonight. The 6-1 Patriots host the 5-2 Red Rovers of Easton in a key Lehigh Valley Conference game at the stadium at 7 p.m. Out in Green Pond, the Crusaders celebrate homecoming against the Palisades Pirates in a contest between two 1-6 teams. In-city rivals and play each other Saturday night.
  4. Hot jazz from the roaring ‘20s is on tap at the from 8 to 11 p.m. when the Blackbird Society Orchestra plays on the TD Bank Community Stage in the Creativity Commons on the first floor. The show is free.
  5. Stay at SteelStacks late night for your choice of classic films in the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas. Lon Chaney and Bela Lugosi star in The Wolfman, the original horror masterpiece from 1941. Or, “Let’s Do The Time Warp Again” with Brad, Janet and Dr. Frank N. Furter at The Rocky Horror Picture Show, for an old-school, 35 mm midnight show. Costumes and interactions are encouraged, but ArtsQuest asks that you leave the squirt guns at home – please. Tickets are $9.50, $7.50 for students and seniors and $7 for ArtsQuest members.
