5 Things to Know This Week

Bundle up for the first great cold snap of the winter.

Good morning Bethlehem. Happy 2012. Welcome to the Year of the Apocolypse.

  1. Get ready for the coldest weather we’ve had since last winter today and tomorrow. The National Weather Service forecast says our high temperature today will be 27, while tonight’s low is expected to drop to 10. There will also be a cold northwest wind of at least 10 mph. Wednesday will also be cold, with a high of 29, but less windy. Temperatures will warm up gradually as we go through the week.
  2. PennDOT crews will be sealing cracks along Applebutter Road all week and along Farmersville Road today. Be on the alert for lane closures that could delay traffic along both thoroughfares.
  3. City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. at for its bi-annual reorganization meeting. A new president and vice president will be picked and one new councilman, , will be sworn in.
  4. Bethlehem Township Commissioners also meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the for their annual reorganization meeting. and Phil Barnard will be sworn in as new commissioners, then the board will pick a new chairman.
  5. The Bethlehem Zoning Hearing Board meets in a special session at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall to continue hearing testimony on developer to convert the former into an inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation center.
