2 to 4 Inches of Rain Expected in Next Two Days

National Weather Service issues a "flood watch" for Bethlehem, all of Northampton County.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Bethlehem and all of Northampton County and other portions of eastern Pennsylvania beginning Tuesday morning through late Wednesday night.

Between two and four inches of rain could fall during that time frame – more in some local areas – which could bring flooding to low-lying and poor drainage areas and perhaps some quick-responding creeks and streams.

The weather service said two low-pressure systems are expected to converge and combine into one larger system off the Carolina coast on Tuesday. The system is expected to move slowly and deliver to this region a “prolonged, moisture-rich southeasterly flow” that is likely to deliver moderate to heavy rain through Wednesday night.
