What to Buy in July

Every season can be a savings season if you know when to shop for what.

Isn’t it interesting how timing can make all the difference in savings? Walk into retail stores after a holiday and save up to 90% on things that can be used the following year.

But how on earth can one save during July – a month that is far from any holiday other than Independence Day.

And unless you’re really into stocking up on red, white, and blue or stars and stripes, it’s probably not a time you’d think about stocking up on home décor.

However, according to TipHero, July is a great time to save on certain items.

Paint – Most people don’t care to be out painting during the hot summer months, so it’s not uncommon to see great paint deals at your local hardware and paint retailers.

Furniture – According to TipHero, furniture stores swap inventory during the months of February and August. In order to make room for the new furniture, they slash prices on the stock they have on the floor.

Butter – This is the peak season for butter production, so prices tend to be a little lower than during the winter months. Stock up now and freeze what you can’t use right away.

Home Goods – According to Real Simple, wedding season brings better deals on things like silverware, table linens, china and other household items. Retailers realize shoppers will be browsing with wedding registries in-hand and want to offer deals they won’t refuse. This means nice savings for those of us who aren’t in the market for a wedding gift  - sometimes 20-50% off!

Picnic Supplies – Summertime means picnic season, so many stores offer great discounts on things like condiments, soda, and other products used for outdoor occasions. By stocking up during these great sales, you can build an inventory in your pantry that will last you through next season.

Broadway Tickets – “Tiphero” also mentions that this is a super time to save on show tickets. Why? It seems there are more open seats since summertime is travel time for New Yorkers. The regular viewers give up their spots and allow for savvy savers like you to get their tickets at a discounted cost. Stay tuned for more on how to save on Broadway shows.
