It's, Like, 'Totally 80s' First Friday in SouthSide

It’s time to break out the parachute pants, leg warmers and neon-colored oversized shirts. The 80s are making a comeback tonight in South Bethlehem.

The theme for First Friday is “Totally 80s,” and establishments on Third and Fourth streets will be remembering the decade of teased hair, Swatch watches and Members Only jackets in a number of ways.

Nowhere is this more the case than at the , where vocal instructor Corinne Grosser will be teaching the fine art of karaoke singing, with 80s music as the theme. Prizes will be offered to people who come dressed up in the best 80s outfits.

The one-hour free lesson from 6 to 7 p.m. will cover the basics, including stage presence, projection and other performance techniques.

Can Frankie say relax?

The singing continues until 8 p.m.

If your scene was more hip hop than new wave, head on over to the for break dance performances from 7 to 8 p.m.

The nostalgia will be a little different at , which re-joins the First Friday party with a reunion of Steppin’ Out, a Lehigh Valley country swing band featuring Reid Tre, Dave Fry and Hub Willson.

Go to the from 6 to 9 p.m. for an arts themed scavenger hunt. As always, you can visit with all 25 resident artists in their studios, hear live music and check out the gallery displays.
