Historic Hotel Bethlehem Hosts Winston Churchill Dinner Event

The British-style event will celebrate Churchill's "finest hour."

Historic has just announced it will host a dinner event to celebrate Winston Churchill's “Finest Hour” this Friday, June 15.

Churchill visited Hotel Bethlehem at the invitation of Charles M. Schwab, president of Bethlehem Steel, while touring Schwab’s steel plant.

On June 18, 1940, Churchill made one of the greatest war-time speeches of all time to the people of Great Britain shortly after the realization that Britain would now stand alone against the seemingly unstoppable German military juggernaut.

To celebrate the anniversary of this oratorical monument and the great man himself, the hotel's Tap Room will be offering a special dinner, including traditional fish and chips, with sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

The recommended beverage to compliment this dinner is Fuller’s “ESB,” and Youngs “Double Chocolate" compliments the dessert.

“While our Tap Room walls are filled with famous former guests, Churchill holds a special place of honor” says Hotel Bethlehem manager, Dennis Costello.  “The debt owed by the Free World to Sir Winston Churchill remains immeasurable; it is an honor to celebrate his “Finest Hour” in an evening filled with British tradition."
