Gas Mains Repaired on Main Street

UGI excavation brought updated gas mains to the Hotel Bethlehem, downtown.

 

Street excavation work that recently disrupted parking and traffic along Main Street in the historic downtown is complete, though UGI still must complete street resurfacing including the replacement of brick pavers at the intersection with Market Street, according to a city official.

UGI needed to dig beneath Main Street to fix aging gas mains.

Though the utility had planned to make the necessary repairs, the schedule was hastened when the found it had trouble keeping parts of its building warm because of low pressure, according to Kiel Fortner, a section engineer for the city’s Department of Public Works.
