Community Garden Startup Meeting

A New Community Garden for Us

Meet behind the YMCA       10am this Saturday

Hello Neighbors

Would you like to see a place where we can come together as a neighborhood to create ,
work in and share a community garden.
My name is Gene,  my wife and I moved into a house right behind the YMCA last November.
I would love to help make this happen and am putting out a request to folks within two blocks of the Y to see how many others are ready to move forward . If you don't live that close but work or something brings you here often you are also welcome.
I have contacted the Y about the space in back between the blue pavilions and the fence as a possible site but they have not yet decided.   Five people who go to the Y are interested so far. The building across Elm St from the Y belongs to the County and might be a good alternate site.   Before further pursuing possible sites it seems reasonable to get a sense of how we as a small community feel about doing this. Some aspects to consider will be size, shape, content and management . The ideas of permaculture (permanent  agriculture) emphasizing  perennials like berries, rhubarb and asparagus and other plants that  are mutually beneficial may be worth considering. If this appeals to you please meet with us this Saturday Morning April 14th at  10:00 AM for a 45 minute meeting at the tables under the Y’s blue pavilions  to talk this over.
If you want to get involved but  can't make it this Saturday   please send  an email  to    genegymnast@gmail.com      and your thoughts will be shared with the group.
