Did Kelly Ripa Rip Bethlehem on Romance?

Outcry ensues after talk show host reads Bethlehem's low-romance ranking

The Downtown Bethlehem Association (DBA) is fighting back after a double insult.

The Foursquare social media website has ranked Bethlehem one of the "least romantic" cities in the United States. Then the ranking got lots of attention after morning TV host Kelly Ripa read it on air.

"I got call after call," said DBA manager Samantha Schwartz on Tuesday. Residents and merchants were upset.

Schwartz shot back with e-mail, fax, text message and posts to Ripa's Facebook page.

Valentine's Day may be over but the continues in Bethlehem where both singles and couples can at shops, restaurants and salons/spas.

Schwartz told the Morning Call that the city's romantic charm can best be appreciated by taking a stroll downtown rather than by using an application on a mobile phone. In fact, dozens of couples were seen walking up Main Street after Tuesday's free "Bach at Noon" concert at
