Businesses Invited to Talk About Hiring People with Disabilities

State Office of Vocational Rehabilitation hosts 'Equal to the Task' luncheon Thursday in Bethlehem.

The Department of Labor & Industry’s Allentown Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is inviting local businesses to participate in its lunchtime event, “Equal to the Task,” from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem.

Attendance is limited. Advance registration is required.

A box lunch will be provided to all pre-registered attendees.

Allentown OVR will talk with business representatives in the region about the many pre-screened and qualified job candidates ready to get to work in a wide variety of employment categories from entry to professional level.

Planned activities include:

• A first look at the recently created Allentown District Office list of qualified work-ready OVR candidates

• A panel discussion with three businesses that have successfully hired OVR customers with disabilities.

• A roundtable discussion encouraging business representatives to advise OVR on how they can improve services to employers OVR provides vocational rehabilitation counselors who partner with people with disabilities to hone their abilities, acquire meaningful work-related skills and get to work.
