Light Show Kicks Off SteelStacks Holiday Celebration

Christkindlmarkt opens at its new venue where the blast furnaces will be lit for the holidays.

Christkindlmarkt, Bethlehem's holiday open-air market, opened for its 19th season on Thursday at ArtsQuest's new SteelStacks campus. In addition to the new venue, this marked the first time the market opened before Thanksgiving.

Opening night was celebrated with a lighting ceremony. A special light show starring the old Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces will be repeated several times nightly through New Year's Eve. The light show is free.

The market features 100 artisans, food, music and Santa Claus in addition to other entertainment. It will be open Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every weekend through December 18.
