Blood Center Announces Summer Gas Card Give-away
Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and Reading Phillies tickets will also be awarded.
is giving donors who register to donate now through August 19 a chance to win one of two $100 gas cards drawn weekly. Donor entries will also be eligible to win a set of four tickets to a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs or Reading Phillies game, also awarded weekly.
“It is so important to donate during the summer months because every summer our inventory drops to critical levels,” says Marsha Springel. donor resources manager for the blood center. “Over 500 units of blood are needed daily by our community hospitals to care for premature infants, accident victims, surgical patients, and individuals undergoing chemotherapy.”
Those in good health, 17 years of age or older, who weigh a minimum of 110 pounds are most likely eligible to donate blood. There is no upper age limit for blood donors.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center is headquartered in Bethlehem and serves as the only blood supplier to area regional hospitals. The organization also operates donor centers in Allentown, Easton, Hazleton, Lionville and Reading, and hosts more than 2,000 blood drives annually.
