Hemingway is a Key Character in Library Books Alive Pick

Legendary author is key figure in "The Paris Wife," this month's book discussion club selection. Stop by the library on June 19th. New members are always welcome!

 

Kick start your summer reading with BAPL's June Books Alive pick, The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. This book has it all, from compelling history to sweeping romance to exciting world travel! Delve deeper into the novel by reading some true facts about one of the main characters, the legendary Ernest Hemingway himself.

  • He was born almost completely blind in his left eye.
  • Hemingway was incredibly prone to accidents. He had at least ten concussions, survived two plane crashes and was clawed by a lion, among many other injuries.
  • There is an Ernest Hemingway look-alike contest every year in Key West, Florida.
  • He participated in WWI and WWII, and reported on the Spanish Civil War.
  • Hemingway had four wives and dedicated a book to each of them.
