ArtsAlive Prelusion program introduces new Lehigh Students to the arts in Bethlehem

he 9th annual ArtsAlive Prelusion program was filled with activities for nine new students to Lehigh University. PreLUsion programs “jump start” a student’s Lehigh University experience before evoLUtion (a.k.a. “freshmen orientation”) begins. ArtsAlive is one of ten programs that gives students a chance to meet others with common interests.

ArtsAlive is designed for incoming students interested in artistic opportunities on campus and in the local community. They got hands-on experiences in the arts through various workshops which included: dance/movement, drumming circle, improv theatre, a field trip to the Martin Guitar company, Zoellner Arts center tour and costume shop visit, a visit to one off-campus art space, Lehigh University Art Gallery, clay workshop at the Banana Factory and more.

Students were introduced to the local community by visiting points of interest which are within walking distance of the campus. They also ate at a number of local restaurants. Local artists and arts professionals, supporting the program: Josh Kovar (Zoellner Production Manager)

All but one student in the ArtsAlive 2013 program was entering Lehigh with a focus on Engineering (civil, chemical, computer, mechanical). Of the engineers, three of them took AP art in high school.
