Storm Forces Closure of SteelStacks Sunday

Banana Factory will also close, while ArtsQuest Center will shorten Saturday schedule.

Less than two weeks removed from a Musikfest , ArtsQuest has been forced to close the and the  campus on Sunday because of the anticipated effects of Hurricane Irene, according to a release issued by the nonprofit arts organization.

ArtsQuest has also shortened its schedule of events on Saturday in anticipation of the storm.

That means that free concerts planned at the on Sunday – Moona Luna at 5 p.m. and HuDost at 7:30 p.m. – have been cancelled.

Also cancelled is the Saturday night Musikfest Café concert featuring Mr. Ho’s Orchestrtotica, a 23-piece Esquivel band, we previewed in our weekly feature. The show will be rescheduled and ticket-holders will be contacted with additional information.

Instead, the free show featuring The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Levitt Pavilion has been moved indoors to the Musikfest Café. The show will still be free to the public, while food and beverages will be available for purchase there.

The schedule at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema has also been changed, with the last showing of One Day now scheduled at 6:25 p.m. and the last showing of Sarah’s Key scheduled at 7:15 p.m. There will be no late night horror film on Saturday night. This week’s offering, still scheduled for tonight is The Hills Have Eyes.
