Grab & Go: It's High School Musical Time

Plus First Friday in Bethlehem and a Dr. Seuss birthday celebration in Easton

“Honk!” if you like musicals.  A number of area High Schools will be performing Broadway productions Friday through Sunday including Moravian Academy’s musical performance of the “Ugly Duckling” remake, “Grease” at Saucon Valley High and “Annie” at Southern Lehigh.

First Friday in Bethlehem, Dr. Suess’s Birthday celebration at the Crayola Factory and Irish Eyes at the Kemerer museum offer educational and interactive fun for the whole family.

FIRST FRIDAY ()

Where/When: The Banana Factory, Friday 6:00 – 10:00 am

Why Go: Cheaper than admission to an art museum with all the culture and talent, South Side artists open their studios and galleries to the public. 

Pricing: Free to the public. 

• IRISH EYES ARE SMILING ()

Where/When: Kemerer Museum, 427 N New St, Bethlehem, Saturday, noon – 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: The Hunt for History is still on and, in honor of St. Patty’s Day, the wee ones are asked to join in learning about the Irish Culture viewing textiles from the museum’s collection and kids can spin their own yard to make a penny pocket.

Pricing: $5 for adults, free for children.  

• GREEN EGGS AND HAM BREAKFAST (Crayola Discover Center)

Where/When: Capitol building on Saturday, 9. to 10 a.m., Sunday 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Never tried green eggs and ham? “If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good” says Sam I am. Celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss with the Cat in the Hat at the Crayola Factory. Try it; you’ll like it!

MORAVIAN ACADEMY UPPER SCHOOL PRESENTS ()

Where/When: 4313 Green Pond Rd, Bethlehem, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: The best hatched story since Hans Christian Anderson first put pen to paper on the Ugly Duckling, Honk! The Musical  lifts the story from the pages with music and choreography that the whole family will enjoy.

Pricing: Tickets: $10, reservations strongly suggested

SAUCON VALLEY SPRING MUSICAL, “Grease” ()

Where/When: Saucon Valley High School, 2100 Polk Valley Rd, Hellertown, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: “Grease” is the word for the weekend. Take your kids back to Rydell High to a time when poodle skirts, drag racing and greased up heart throbs crooning about making the grade and getting the girl.

Pricing: Tickets available at the door: $10 for Adults, $8 for Students and Sr. Citizens. 

• SOUTHERN LEHIGH MUSICAL PRODUCTION, “Annie” ()

Where/When: Saucon Valley High School, 2100 Polk Valley Rd, Hellertown, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: Who doesn’t love the cute little orphan that finds a place in billionaire Daddy Warbucks heart? A Freddy Award contender, Southern Lehigh’s production of Annie will win your heart as well.
