presents David Parker and The Bang Group's ShowDown

DanceNOW SteelStacks kicks into high gear when David Parker and The Bang Group take over the Musikfest Cafe with their ShowDown - a reinvention of the film Annie Get it's series of beautiful recordings made by Judy Garland [ later replaced by Betty Hutton ] and Howard Keel for the 1949 MGM film version of the Broadway show.

The Bang Group dancers dip and swirl, thud, hoof, tap and sing with their characteristic mix of precision and abandon, treating Berlin's score seriously as music and poetry - allowing the humor to bubble up inevitably where it will. When the piece ends, with a reprise of "No Business Like Show Business" over too soon. And then it isn't. Mr. Parker appears and, with Jeffrey Kazin, offers a bonus track a marvelous rendition of "Old-Fashioned Wedding", complete with tap routine. Then you really don't want it to be over. And it is. - The New York Times

About DanceNOW

"Always Stellar" - New York Magazine

Bending the rules and defying the standard, DanceNOW [NYC] has followed its own path for more than two decades, seeking out unconventional means to connect audiences to dance. With a nine year partnership with NYC's hottest music venue, Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, DanceNOW Joe's Pub inspired a multitude of new works along with a trilogy of modern [dance] musicals including Doug Elkins award-winning Fraulein Maria [seen at Williams Center for the Arts in Nov 2010], Nicholas Leichter's The Whiz [seen at Zoellner Arts Center in Jan 2011] and David Parker's Show Down coming to the Musikfest Cafe at the new ArtsQuest Performing Arts Center in June to launch DanceNOW SteelStacks.
